The Popular Hulu Series is Back
Hulu’s controversial reality show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, has officially been renewed for another season. As of now, a total of 20 episodes have been ordered.
Not just a South Park Episode
Before getting started, it’s important first to make sure everyone is on the same page about who the Mormons are. As described on their official website, Mormons are followers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an offshoot of Christianity. While this religion follows some of the same teachings of other well-known sects of Christianity, it is also known for having its own beliefs and having a prophet by the name of Joseph Smith. There are a few key beliefs that separate it from other sects, with the most notorious being the fact that they at one time practiced polygamy. Also, followers are prohibited from drinking alcohol or caffeine. Aside from their beliefs, they also have a sort of clean-cut and innocent image associated with them, which is what makes The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives so scandalous.
New Material?
For the uninitiated, the show follows a group of Mormon wives with an insight into the private side of the religion. The first season came about as a result of a sex scandal that was initially aired on TikTok. The scandal in question, which hit international news when first revealed, exposed a supposed swinging lifestyle normalized within the community (not the dance style). The first season spanned eight episodes and started up a few years after the sex scandal. First-time viewers can glance behind the curtains surrounding this enigmatic religion.
The Mark of Cain
As of now, most of the first season’s cast are returning. This includes everyone from Demi Engemann and Jennifer Affleck to Mayci Neeley and Whitney Leavitt. There is already a planned release date, with Spring of 2025 being the target, according to Deadline. It’s worth noting that this reality show is streaming on Hulu, which Disney also owns. The show’s popularity has been undeniable, as the show was Hulu’s most-watched, unscripted premiere this year, according to Variety. Also, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives overcame original Hulu content, such as The Kardashians.

A lover of gore and over the top violence, no movie can make my stomach squirm. The only thing better than a bloody death scene is a well choreographed stunt. Whether it be action or horror, if it has blood in it, then I've likely already seen it. |
