‘The Crow’ (2024): A Review

Cry Now, Cry Later

The Crow is a 2024 film directed by Rupert Sanders, produced by Edward R. Pressman and Samuel and Victor Hadida, and distributed by Lionsgate Entertainment Corp. The legend of the crow is one of the great tragedies. A significant loss is needed to gain strength, but in the end, the crow has the power to move between worlds.

Quite Brilliantly Broken

A sort of miracle emerges in a dark city with strange people and even stranger schemes. Two people who are, in part, solitary creatures wander into each other’s lives. Together, they create a love that is beautiful and wonderful. This kind of love is rare and takes a special mind to understand its worth. It’s not a fairytale, but it can lift anyone into the clouds. When one loses that kind of love, the mind becomes something else. Whether that something is good or bad is hard to say. Things become quiet, things become dark, and everything around seems to disappear.

If something can be done to make things right, it’s certain to be done. This is the path Eric took and the sacrifice he made. The choice he made changed the meaning of life and death itself. Shelly was his love, and he took the journey to save her. She returned to this world, but her life was never the same. Sometimes, dark things have to be done to be redeemed. To set things right, a person has to be willing to do what it takes. The legend of the crow is magical because of what it holds. It carries death with it and brings the soul to its end. When worlds like this collide, an answer is needed for balance to be restored on both sides of life and death.

Curious And Curiouser

Eric is played by Bill Skarsgârd, and FKA Twigs plays Shelly. They shared a love like no other, but like many, each had a former life. Sometimes, it can hurt to talk about things of the past because it’s easier to pretend they didn’t happen. There’s an aura of sorrow and solemness that becomes second nature. It can create cracks, but that’s where love shines most brightly. When someone sees this, and they still love those parts, never let them go – there will never be another. They are so entwined that even in death, he felt her everywhere and in everything.

Vincent Roeg, played by Danny Hutson, was the enemy of balance as he became the darkness of immortality. He constantly had to feed the devil, who made him who he was. To maintain his immortality he was to sacrifice others. He stole the darkest parts of others and put a voice to them. This voice was so horrid that there was no longer a choice.

It would compel, it would whisper deeper and deeper into the soul until the deed was done. Then, like Vincent, others would want a piece of that wealth and prosperity so much that they would turn a blind eye to their children. Sophia, played by Josette Simon, was one such mother with her daughter Shelly. Kronos in mythology is known as the god of time. In The Crow, he is played by Sami Bouajila. As he watches over the balance between the worlds he sees a growing darkness. Eric was pulled from this world to become “The Crow” – the name of retribution and redemption. Love brought him to the land between worlds, and this love ended it all and restored balance.

To Understand The Meaning Of These Words

The energy The Crow brings is one of silent chaos that has bloomed into a beautiful white lily. Sometimes things are dark, black, and bleak while in others a feeling of longing and vulnerability can be felt. There are moments when it seems love will live on forever, but then there’s the saying that nothing good lasts forever. Moments always must be cherished. Sometimes they’re all that provide warmth during those cold moments. Shelly is represented by the color white, the color of innocence, purity, and gentleness. As Eric becomes The Crow he is seen as the color black. It runs in his veins as a river of mourning and death. No other color nor shade is worthy of the great sacrifice of The Crow.

There are moments when happiness turns to sorrow because of the memories created in the past. Determination becomes key and Eric has it. If he could just go back and change everything, it would all be fixed. The Crow (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) isn’t available yet, however, there is one song titled Meaning (Choral Version) by Cascadeur that completes the film. It pulled every piece together to create a melody as quiet as it is powerful. As it stretches into the depths while trying to keep hold of the present, the notes cling to memories. Shelly and Eric will never truly part. They will meet again, as their souls promised they would, and this is a promise that cannot be broken.

The Darkness Becomes Him

Immortality isn’t always as beautiful as it sounds. As one watches the people they love constantly die, and the meaning of friendship and love becomes lost within them they may become dark. Life becomes a curse, but Eric made the greatest sacrifice one can make. He did it for Shelly and he would do it again. Oh, to be invisible like a monster, a cruel fate made only for one soul to heal.
