Stitch Steals the Spotlight at the Super Bowl

A Familiar Alien Crashes the Super Bowl With His Signature Chaos

This Super Bowl Sunday featured plenty of standout commercials. One of them showcased Disney’s beloved blue alien, Stitch, causing chaos on the field and stealing the spotlight to promote the new Lilo & Stitch movie.

Meega, Nala Kweesta!

Disney found the perfect way to promote the new Lilo & Stitch movie by letting the mischievous alien run wild on the Super Bowl field. In the teaser, the camera captures something dashing across the field before the game begins, creating the illusion that it’s happening live during the broadcast. As Stitch races around, people scramble to catch him so the game can go on. He skillfully dodges everyone, snatches a cart, and crashes it straight into the goalpost. Before the teaser ends, he picks up a dropped mic and exclaims, “Meega Nala Kweesta!” All the while, the announcers narrate the chaos as cameras track his every move. The teaser wraps up by revealing the film’s release date with Stitch sporting football gear and blowing a horn.

Live-action ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Film

According to Variety, the upcoming Lilo & Stitch movie is a live-action remake of Disney’s beloved 2002 animated film.

The original movie earned $273 million globally and inspired multiple spinoffs, including direct-to-video sequels and a Disney Channel animated series. The remake’s cast features Maia Kealoha as Lilo Pelekai and Sydney Agudong as Nani. Chris Sanders returns as the voice of Stitch, while Zach Galifianakis plays Dr. Jumba Jookiba and Billy Magnussen takes on the role of Agent Pleakley. Tia Carrere, the original voice of Nani, will appear as Mrs. Kekoa, and Courtney B. Vance will portray a social worker. Additionally, Amy Hill and Jason Scott Lee, both of whom voiced characters in the animated film, are also part of the cast. In an interview with PEOPLE, Carrere shared, “There’s going to be Easter eggs [for] the people who saw it originally, and also the new kids that are coming up,” regarding the live-action film.

The team bringing this remake to life includes director Dean Fleischer Camp and screenwriter Chris Kekaniokalani Bright. Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin produced the film through Rideback, with Ryan Halprin, Louie Provost, and Tom C. Peitzman serving as the executive producers.
