First-Time Emmy Nominee’s New Feature
Cooper Koch is set to star in Luca Guadagnino’s new AI-based feature film Artificial for Amazon MGM Studios. The film is described as a comedic drama revolving around artificial intelligence, but further details and his role in the film are being heavily kept under wraps. According to Deadline, although unconfirmed, sources are speculating that the plot revolves around the artificial intelligence company OpenAI during the period in 2023 when CEO Sam Altman was fired and rehired within the span of a few days.
From Monsters to Machines
Koch starred as Erik Menendez in his breakout Golden Globe-nominated role in Monsters: The Erik and Lyle Menendez Story, the second season of the critically acclaimed series created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. The series debuted at #1 on Netflix and is nominated for 11 Emmy Awards, with Koch being nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. He also starred in Blumhouse’s They/Them across from Kevin Bacon, and in Swallowed, directed by Carter Smith.
Koch is represented by UTA, Strand Entertainment, and Hansen, Jacobsen, Teller.
Star-Studded Cast And Crew
The film is directed by Luca Guadagnino, known for films such as Call Me by Your Name, Challengers, and Queer. Alongside the award-winning director, the cast includes Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man [2012], We Live in Time [2024]) who is returning to work alongside Guadagnino and Amazon MGM Studios after starring in After the Hunt, which is being released by the studio on October 11th. Anora (2024) breakout star Yura Borisinov will also feature in the film, with Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown [2024]) in talks for a leading role in the film. Simon Rich wrote the film and is taking the role of producer alongside Heyday Films’ David Heyman and Jefferey Clifford, as well as Jennifer Fox. The project was originally announced in June.
