Johnny Cage is Revealed
The Mortal Kombat II trailer was released on July 17th, 2025, preparing for the next deadly tournament. The stakes are higher than ever if Earthrealm and Shao Kahn of Outworld invade.
Johnny Cage as Karl Urban
Mortal Kombat II is an upcoming American martial arts fantasy film directed by Simon McQuoid and written by Jeremy Slater, based on the Mortal Kombat video game series created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. The trailer centers around Karl Urban playing Johnny Cage, an aging action star who gets recruited to fight for Earthrealm in Mortal Kombat. In the trailer, Johnny Cage begins the film without any powers, going up against foes who are much more powerful.
New & Returning Characters
The trailer showcases new characters, including Kitana (Adeline Rudolph), Jade (Tati Gabrielle), Baraka (CJ Bloomfield), Shao Kahn (Martyn), and Queen Sindel (Ana Thu Nguyen).
Noob Saibot (formerly Bi-han, played by Joe Taslim) also appears, potentially as an antagonist. Mortal Kombat’s traditional fight sequences are a style of brutal action and fatalities. The trailer emphasizes classic violence with graphic fight sequences and fatalities.
Round Two Ready: ‘Mortal Kombat II’
The trailer gives glimpses of Outworld and Netherrealm, suggesting that characters will travel between the realms during the tournament.
