Sizzling Summer Singles to Get Them Grooving
With the end of summer rapidly approaching, multiple artists are releasing singles for their new or upcoming albums. The goal is to shine a spotlight on the best songs released recently.
“Doggy” by Geezer feat. Love Spells, and Truly Young
Former Brockhampton member Kevin Abstract and artist Dominic Fike have come together to create Geezer. The two artists created the group after collaborating on Abstract’s new album Blush on songs like “Geezer” and “Maroon.” “Doggy” is the first song from the duo’s new group and combines both members’ styles into a blend of indie, pop, and rap.
“Oranges” by Alex G
“Oranges” is the final single from Alex Giannascoli’s, or Alex G’s, newly released album Headlights. The song is fully written and composed by Giannascoli with production by himself and Jacob Portrait. The song showcases G’s signature raw sound with a slower indie rock/pop styling.
“F*** Me Eyes” by Ethel Cain
Ethel Cain, or Hayden Anhedonia, returns with her second single from her upcoming album Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You. The prequel album to Cain’s first showing on Preachers Daughter is a further character study into the artist’s stage persona, Ethel Cain.
According to a press release by Anhedonia, “this song represents Ethel’s complicated feelings for the girl she’s convinced has caught her crush’s eye, as well as her 16-year-old thoughts on the matter.” Touching on themes of high school anxieties, the production of the track is a departure from Cain’s usual style, focusing on a more pop sound.
“Why is She Still Here?” by Reneé Rapp
Broadway star, actor, and singer-songwriter Reneé Rapp released her latest single, “Why is She Still Here?” from her upcoming album Bite Me. The second single from the artist’s anticipated sophomore album showcases Rapp’s pop styling and powerful vocals.
“Vodka Cranberry” by Conan Gray
Conan Gray continues the story showcased in his first single, “This Song,” on “Vodka Cranberry,” both of which are featured in his upcoming album Wishbone. The single was released with a video starring Gray and Girl Meets World actor Corey Fogelmanis as lovers, following the story from his previous single. The song has Gray’s classic pop production by Daniel Nigro, but mixed with a raw narrative.
Reneé Rapp, Conan Gray, and Ethel Cain’s albums are all set to release in August. Stay tuned for further music updates from Dead Talk News.
