Jason Voorhees Makes a Blood-Soaked Return

"Sweet Revenge” Now Streaming

Jason Voorhees is back at Camp Crystal Lake in “Sweet Revenge,” a new short film that has finally delivered fresh carnage for Friday the 13th  fans. After years of anticipation, the Jason Universe has revived the iconic, hockey-masked killer, much to the delight of horror aficionados.

Summer Camp Gets Bloody

Since the original Friday the 13th slashed its way into theaters on May 9, 1980, nearly 45 years have passed since this relentless force of terror first emerged from Crystal Lake’s murky depths. Though born from filmmakers’ imaginations, Jason’s legend was fueled by tragedy. The silent, towering figure’s unquenchable bloodlust began when negligent teenage counselors allowed young Jason to drown—a catastrophe that drove his grief-stricken mother to murderous vengeance. After her beheading in the original film, something stirred beneath the lake’s surface, and Jason himself rose from his watery tomb, never to be permanently interred again.

Friday the 13th: Hack and Slash History

His bloody escapades were covered over a series of films totaling 12 cinematic releases, seeing Jason come back true to form, even going so far as to the limits of outer space to wreak havoc. According to IGN, the first eight films were released between 1980 through 1989.

After 1989, the franchise fell to New Line Cinema. “New Line took over the rights and gave fans four very different, distinct Jason movies, including 2003’s Freddy vs. Jason, which took over 15 years to fully develop.” 2009 would mark the last time fans would see Jason stalk the campgrounds to a most unforgettable signature sound preluding his footfalls.

Sweet Revenge

The latest vignette featuring the much-anticipated return of Jason Voorhees comes to life through the creative hands and vision of Mike P. Nelson. Known for his work on Silent Night, Deadly Night, Nelson not only crafted the script but also directed this chilling tale. The eagerly awaited comeback is brought to you by Angry Orchard and is now streaming on the Jason Universe YouTube channel.

“Sweet Revenge”: Short and Savage

“Sweet Revenge” offers fans just enough to tantalize the senses. In a mere 16 minutes, it delivers a story packed with intrigue, although some elements are left to the imagination. Jason’s motives remain unmistakably clear, and the vignette doesn’t hold back on the classic hack-and-slash, adding a nicely gory touch throughout. There’s an extra something in this short—a little added spice that invites further contemplation. It not only stirs the creative gears of possibility but also sparks a yearning for more. For long-time fans who have been craving just a little more of Jason Voorhees, this appetizer is served for all to savor.
