The Television Academy has announced the first winners of the 77th Emmy Awards in juried categories. Categories include Animation, Costume, Emerging Media, Programming, and Motion Design. 

Emmy’s Professional Procedures

According to Deadline, categories are screened by a panel of professionals within the appropriate peer groups, with the possibility of one, more than one, or no entry being awarded an Emmy. This results in no nominees, but instead a one-step voting and evaluation process. This deliberation process includes an open discussion of each entrant’s work and a thorough review of the merits of awarding the Emmy. 

Awards and Winners 

Netflix wins big with four wins for Love, Death + Robots, two in Character Animation and Character Design for the episode “400 Boys,” and two in Production Design and Storyboard for the episode “How Zeke Got Religion.” Followed by Netflix’s Arcane continuing their streak with two wins, one for Background Design in the episode “Dirt Under Your Nails,” and another for Color for the episode “The Message Hidden Within The Pattern.” Beyoncé also snagged her first Emmy award for Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming for Netflix’s Beyoncé Bowl.
