Official “Slash Squatch” Trailer
“Yeti or Not, Here it Comes”
Just when fans thought Sasquatch Sunset would be the Bigfoot movie to end all Bigfoot movies, they were wrong.
Via Indiegogo, a crowd-funding website that allows patrons to fund charities, start-ups, and more, a Bigfoot horror movie titled Slash Squatch is currently set to be fan-funded. The project has already raised $6,000 from 28 backers, with a target amount of $35,000. The indie-horror movie follows “a weapon-wielding Sasquatch (that) ravages a small town.”
The Missing Link in Horror
Slash Squatch has been described as “a thrilling creature feature inspired by classics like Tremors and the 1988 remake of The Blob.” To build anticipation and excitement for the project, the first five minutes of Slash Squatch have been shot and uploaded to the film’s official website. Starring in the project are Toni Hudson, Autumn Ivy, Lynn Lowry, and Bill Oberst Jr. Aaron Bratcher will direct the movie based on a screenplay written by himself and Cole Erickson. Production is expected to begin this September.
Aaron Bratcher, an American filmmaker from Portland, Oregon, is bringing Bigfoot to life in the horror genre. Before becoming a director, Bratcher served in the U.S. Army. While still enlisted on active duty, Bratcher made his first feature film at 22 years old. Finishing up his six-year career in the military, Bratcher began pursuing his filmmaking career back in Portland. His filmography includes films such as Pawns’ Volition, Showdown in Yesteryear, and the short film, Primal: The Hunt. To prepare patrons for the film, Bratcher said, “Brace yourself for edge-of-your-seat tension and adrenaline-fueled action, brought to life with stunning old-school practical effects.”

Bigfoot Goes to The Movies
Countless indie and cult movies have explored the mythology behind the mythical creature, ranging from horror to comedies. Earlier this year, the drama-comedy Sasquatch Sunset released starring Jesse Eisenberg, Riley Keough, Nathan Zeller, and Christophe Zajac-Denek showcasing a year in the lives of a family of Bigfoot. Other films have tried to bring humor to the ape-like beast, such as 1987’s Harry and the Hendersons, 2009’s Bigfoot, and 2017’s The Bigfoot Project. More notably, Sasquatches have been the subject of children’s animated movies, like 2017’s The Son of Bigfoot and 2020’s Bigfoot Family.
Few Bigfoot projects have broken out into the mainstream. Warner Bros.’ 2018 animated musical Smallfoot was nominated for numerous awards, even winning the Truly Moving Picture Award from the Indiana-based Heartland Film Festival. The animated movie included a star-studded voice cast including Channing Tatum, Zendaya, James Corden, Danny DeVito, Gina Rodriguez, and LeBron James. A year later, another animated film, Missing Link, was released by Laika, the production company specializing in stop-motion animated movies, including Kubo and the Two Strings, ParaNorman, and Coraline. Similar to Smallfoot, Missing Link was nominated for numerous awards, including the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Missing Link featured the voice talent of actors Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana, Zach Galifianakis, Emma Thompson, and Timothy Olyphant.
