Multi-hyphenate Jay Pharaoh returns to the stage with a new comedy special, Jared. The trailer, which was recently released, shows clips of Pharaoh’s lively energy as he entertains the audience.
Jay Pharoah
Jay Pharoah is a comedian, actor, and impressionist. The Saturday Night Live alumn was a cast member for six seasons before starring in a Showtime comedy produced by Jamie Foxx called White Famous. Pharaoh has also previously been in the Emmy-winning shows on ABC’s Live in Front of a Studio Audience Good Times and All in the Family. He is the former host and executive producer of the Nickelodeon game show Unfiltered and has numerous film credits, including The Blackening (Lionsgate), Ride Along (Universal), Unsane, Comedy Central’s Out of Office by Steven Soderbergh, and Bad Hair by Justin Simein. Over the summer, Pharaoh was the host for Fox’s game show The Quiz with Balls.

Jared is a one-hour-long comedy special about Jay Pharoah’s suburban upbringing and run-in with the law, as well as exposing certain aspects of pop culture. While doing so, Pharaoh also shares with the audience his perspective on various topics like being more resilient in a cruel world that is always laughing and the importance of self-discovery.
In the trailer, Jay Pharaoh has a contagious upbeat personality that really helps him connect with the audience. He can be seen walking back and forth across the stage, jumping around, and expressing himself through open and excited body language. While Pharaoh touches on more ‘taboo’ topics like politics and the underbelly of pop culture (ex: his bit on Trump and R. Kelly), he does it in a way that is light and entertaining, with plenty of laughter from the audience.
Production Information and Where to Watch
Jared follows closely behind Pharaoh’s other special Jay Pharaoh: Can I Be Me? (2015), a comedy performance where he did accurate impressions of various people, like Chris Rock, Barack Obama, and Dave Chapelle. The comedy special was produced by 800 Pound Gorilla and Premature Miracle Productions and directed by Shaina Farrow, Jay Pharaoh’s sister and manager. Both Pharaoh and his sister also produced alongside Jordan Levy and Adam Ginivisian, and they taped it at The Den Theater in Chicago, Illinois. Pharaoh is represented by Shaina Farrow, Levity Talent, CAA, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
