Reaching the Billboard Hot 100
KPop Demon Hunters continues to reach a high in the charts. According to Netflix, the film is still in the top 10 popular movies in the United States since its release on June 20. The film’s soundtrack has even reached the Billboard Hot 100. Four songs from the animated film’s soundtrack have reached the top 10 of the chart. According to Variety, “Golden” remained at the No. 1 spot for the second week in a row for the week of August 25. This song pushed “Ordinary” by Alex Warren out of the top spot last week. It is joined by “Your Idol” at the No. 4 spot, “Soda Pop” at No. 5, and “How It’s Done” at No. 10 on the Hot 100 chart. According to Variety, the last time a soundtrack had three songs in the top 5 was in 1978, with the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever. KPop Demon Hunters has reached soundtrack history by being the first soundtrack to have four songs in the top 10 simultaneously.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has become the all-time most-watched English-language film on Netflix with 236 million views. In 2021, Sony Pictures handed the film over to Netflix to release. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two companies are planning an Oscar campaign for KPop Demon Hunters to get it nominated for the award. The success of the film has led Netflix and Sony to start discussing a future sequel film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two companies have started conversations with the directors of the film, Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang, over the potential sequel. There is no word yet about what the sequel will be about.
