What’s to Know
Boots Riley is gearing up for his second feature film, I Love Boosters, following the success of his 2018 debut, Sorry to Bother You. This time, Riley brings a fresh, sharp take on a female-led shoplifting ring, or “boosters,” who set their sights on a powerful and ruthless fashion mogul. With an exciting cast that includes Keke Palmer (NOPE), Naomi Ackie(Blink Twice), LaKeith Stanfield (Judas and The Black Messiah), and Demi Moore (The Substance), the film is set to showcase Riley’s signature style of socio-political commentary with bold storytelling.
According to Deadline, Neon, the studio behind the project, is financing and producing the film, with plans for a theatrical release in the U.S. as well as international sales.
Additional casting is still in progress, and filming is expected to begin soon. Producers Aaron Ryder and Allison Rose Carter, known for their work on critically acclaimed films like Everything Everywhere All At Once, are also attached to the project, with Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum of Waypoint Entertainment serving as executive producers. As details of the plot remain under wraps, the anticipation for I Love Boosters grows, positioning it as an intriguing film on the horizon.
