‘Doctor Odyssey’ Sets New Record Before Official Release

Doctor Odyssey (2024) Official Trailer Courtesy of ABC

Over 77.8M Views For ‘Doctor Odyssey!’

American Television maestro Ryan Murphy has drummed up a bunch of buzz with the trailer for his newest ABC series, Doctor Odyssey. Within the first 48 hrs, the trailer was able to garner around 77.8 million views.

It’s Slippery on the Poop Deck

Little is known about the show outside of the trailer but this is a part of Murphy’s plan. Ryan Murphy has been known to keep his shows under wraps with the likes of American Horror Story able to retain a few surprises for its audience using the same tactic. Furthermore, this show is no different as little to no information has been released leading up to the trailer. Additionally, set to premiere on September 26, the trailer was just released…10 days before the show’s debut. However, Murphy’s plan worked as the trailer was able to quickly amass over 77M views across multiple platforms. The numbers don’t lie.

Going Overboard

Hopefully, viewers didn’t need the trailer’s help to figure out that the show would be centered around a ship’s doctor. Furthermore, starring Dawson Creek’s Joshua Jackson in the lead role, the show follows Jackson’s character who appears to have been freshly hired as a cruise ship’s newest doctor. Moreover, if nothing else, potential viewers will be surprised by the sheer amount of familiar faces that grace this trailer with John Stamos (Full House) and Sean Tale (Skins). Naturally, no workplace drama would be set without a little bit of romance as the trailer immediately starts setting characters up with one another. Of course, there was some medical stuff going on in the background but that’s just background noise.

Doctor Odyssey premiers on ABC on September 26.

A lover of gore and over the top violence, no movie can make my stomach squirm. The only thing better than a bloody death scene is a well choreographed stunt. Whether it be action or horror, if it has blood in it, then I've likely already seen it.
