Mark Grayson Returns With Something To Prove
The iconic Invincible from Amazon Prime has announced its third season’s release date. Even better, the studio learned not to give any surprises such as months-long hiatuses.
Season 3 Of ‘Invincible’ On the Way
Amazon Prime released a new teaser for Invincible’s upcoming third season. The teaser gave a one-minute skit featuring Mark and Cecil meeting at a burger joint. Jokingly, Mark says he’d been “writing, storyboarding, voice-acting, and animating” the new season in the meantime. Ultimately, Cecil announces that Mark must resume training for the coming battle against the Viltrumites.
In the previous season, Mark found his father on the distant planet of Thraxa, only for him to be captured by the other Viltrumites. Furthermore, Mark is sent back to Earth with the decision of conquering it for them or being destroyed. This new season arrives on Amazon Prime on February 6th, 2025, and will air weekly.
‘Invincible:’ The Superhero Reconstruction
Invincible is a 2021 adult animated series based on the comic from Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. Moreover, the series follows aspiring super Mark Grayson as he tries to follow in the footsteps of his father, the legendary Omni-Man, only to discover the latter’s dark past. Additionally, the series has been critically acclaimed as a piece of adult animation.

In many ways, Invincible is an antithesis to the equally popular The Boys from the same network. Moreover, both are deconstructions of the superhero genre led by an evil parody of Superman. Whereas The Boys cynically parodies and satirizes the genre and its creators, this show provides a more optimistic look. Specifically, Mark is shown to be genuinely goodhearted, trying to do what’s right.
Learning from Mistakes
The announcement from the teaser that likely excited the most fans was that there would be no mid-season hiatus. During Season 2, the show received a sudden, months-long hiatus halfway through. Furthermore, no return date was given upon its arrival. The show had been gone for nearly three years, so fans found this frustrating.
Given the show’s impressive animation, this time was necessary, but a proper announcement would have helped. Additionally, the teaser even features Cecil joking about the inconsistency and chastizing Mark. Hopefully, this show’s response to its fans will inspire greater studio transparency in scheduling productions.
