Nicholas Galitzine shared his first official image as He-Man in Amazon MGM Studios’ Masters of the Universe on his Instagram on Sunday. Donning the signature blond hair and loincloth, the Red, White, and Royal Blue star teases his transformation into the classic hero as production wraps on the film.
Eternia’s Return to The Silver Screen
Director Travis Knight and screenwriter Chris Butler are leading the first official live-action Masters of the Universe movie since 1987. After the success of Barbie (2023), the film is the first in line of Mattel’s cinematic universe based on their toys. After numerous delays and production issues, the movie has finally finished filming and has its release date set for next year.
“Well, that’s a wrap on ‘Masters of the Universe.’ It has been an honour shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He-Man,” Galitzine posted on Instagram. “It’s been the role of a lifetime and I put everything into it. There’s not much I can show you, but I am so proud of the movie we’ve made. Thanks to our amazing cast and crew for all your hard work.”
Starring alongside Galitzine are Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camilla Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Clops, James Purefoy as King Randor, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm/Fisto, and Charlotte Riley as The Sorceress.
Becoming a Superhero
Alongside the teaser, Galitzine and his co-stars have posted behind-the-scenes images and videos from the movie. The post includes the star’s rigorous training to embody the role of He-Man, involving sword fights and a total physical transformation.
According to the official synopsis released by Mattel, Masters of the Universe follows “10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”
Originally launching in 1982, catch the Masters of the Universe return to theatres on June 5th, 2026! Stay tuned for more information from DTN.
