Steven Knight Brings the Guinness Dynasty to Netflix
Netflix has dropped the trailer for Steven Knight’s historical drama House of Guinness, which follows the Guinness dynasty. Produced and written by Peaky Blinders creator, Steven Knight, House of Guinness premieres September 25th.
Inspired By Guinness
House of Guinness is a historical drama series inspired by one of Europe’s enduring dynasties. From Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, the series debuts on Netflix in September 2025. The Netflix show centers on the competing descendants of Benjamin Guinness, a beer tycoon who left a testament that decides the fate of his children. The trailer’s opening scene shows the death of Sir Guinness, the man who built the success of the Guinness brewery. The reading of Benjamin Guinness’s will makes things complicated for his offspring as grudges grow among them. This is then combined with scenes of violence, gore, and romance, all set in 19th-century Ireland.
The Producers and Cast
The Guinnesses are portrayed by Anthony Boyle, Louis Patridge, Emily Fairn, and Fionn O’Shea, who play as Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Benjamin, respectively. The cast also includes James Norton, as well as Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones).
According to Netflix’s Tudum, Knight explains that “The decisions these characters make about personal issues will have consequences for the future of Ireland, which is quite a burden. The pressure adds fuel and energy to all of those relationships.” House of Guinness is produced by Kudos and executive produced by Knight alongside Karen Wilson, Elinor Day, Martin Haines, Tom Shankland, and Ivana Lowell for Netflix.
How Knight Managed to Put it All Together
Tudum explained that Knight talked about how he was unable to get access to certain intimate details of his characters’ pasts. He says, “There’s no Facebook, no Instagram pages,” which made him work excessively in order to create a faithful fiction inspired by remarkable real-life events. “What I had to do was take things that these family members did, things that they said, achievements they made, mistakes that they made, and use them as stepping stones. Then I had to fill in the gaps myself. It’s just a question of saying, “Here’s the character that I imagine this person is. This is why he did that,” Tudum reports.
