Smith’s 15th Film
The campaign for Kevin Smith’s latest film, The 4:30 Movie, continues with the release of a new trailer. Last week, Smith teased the trailer release by posting the movie’s poster on social media.

More details about Kevin Smith’s latest project are becoming available with the latest release of the film’s trailer. With The 4:30 Movie slated for a release on September 13, the film is less than two months from the premiere. The story is set in the 1980s and centers around a group of movie-going teenage friends. Along with the rising talent featured, the trailer also shows a lot of familiar faces, including Justin Long, Ken Jeong, Diedrich Bader, Jason Lee, Method Man, Kate Micucci, and rapper Logic. Smith has also chosen to cast his daughter once again. Harley Quinn Smith has been appearing in her father’s films since 2001, including top billing in the 2016 production Yoga Hosers. Aside from previewing the upcoming film, the video has also created a buzz, with Smith possibly hinting at future plans. When Smith’s credentials are being listed within the trailer, he is also humorously credited for writing and directing Clerks IV, which has never been formally discussed or announced. Of course, Clerks III was released fairly recently in 2022 to mixed reviews.

Smith has built a storied reputation for himself and his filmmaking ability since hitting the scene in 1994 with the cult-classic Clerks. His first few efforts garnered critical acclaim, as well as a fanbase for his brand of movies. His early titles include Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. In the past decade, Smith has struggled to find the same level of success, with projects such as Tusk and Clerks III falling well below the critical scoring he enjoyed early in his career. The 4:30 Movie will be rated R and will actually be one of two Smith movies expected during the remainder of 2024. Moose Jaws, set to complete Smith’s True North Trilogy, is also expected later this year. However, an official premiere date has yet to be announced.
The 4:30 Movie will be released in theaters nationwide on Friday, September 13.
