‘Other Mommy’ Stars Oscar-Winner Jessica Chastain
Other Mommy, an upcoming American horror film originally set to debut in May 2026, has been pushed back by Universal Pictures to October 9, 2026, according to Deadline. The film is based on the novel Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman (Bird Box).
The Synopsis
Come fall 2026, Other Mommy will be released, going up against Paramount’s The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. Other Mommy explores a supernatural trip into the darkening world of a young girl as her family and their home are tormented by a sinister entity that is determined to take up residence inside her, but she needs to be persuaded to let it in.
The Cast
Other Mommy stars Oscar-winner Jessica Chastain (Martian, It Chapter Two ). Other cast includes Jay Duplass (Transparent), Arabella Olivia Clark (Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere), and Dichen Lachman (Severance).
The founder of Atomic Monster, James Wan, is producing the film in association with Spin a Black Yarn for Universal Pictures. Rob Savage (Host, Boogeyman) directed from a script by Succession writer Nathan Elston,
Universal’s Next Move
The executive producers are Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher, Savage, Malerman, and Ryan Lewis, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing for Atomic Monster. This Friday, Universal is set to roll Him, the latest horror film from Monkeypaw Productions, featuring Marlon Wayans and Tyriq Withers. The release will be the beginning of a packed season for the studio, which has lined up a slate of films for the remaining months of the year. Following Him, audiences should expect the family-friendly adventure Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie arriving on September 26, Black Phone 2 on October 17, Wicked: For Good on November 21, and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 closing out the year on December 5.
