The A-List Cast Is Now Being Revealed
Rachel McAdams is purported to be headlining the horror venture Send Help. According to Deadline, the 20th Century Studios project is in the initial stages of announcing its A-list cast. Back in July, the director Sam Raimi attached himself to the film, although 20th Century Studios had not greenlit it yet.
What’s ‘Send Help’ About?
Deadline reports that the film takes place on an island and is an amalgamation between “Rob Reiner’s Stephen King adaptation of Misery and Robert Zemeckis’ Castaway.” The script was penned by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, known for their work on Freddy vs. Jason (2003) and Friday the 13th (2009). Besides helming this thrilling project as director, Raimi will also act as producer with assistance from Zainab Azizi under the Raimi Productions banner.
Who Is Attached to ‘Send Help’?
Sam Raimi is most famous for the Spider-Man trilogy (2002-2007), and of course, will always be synonymous with horror for his iconic Evil Dead franchise (1981-2023). However, some fans may be surprised that he hasn’t directed a horror flick since Drag Me to Hell (2009).
Most recently, he helmed Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) and produced Netflix’s Don’t Move, which has a release date set for October 25th. Furthermore, Raimi’s production, Locked, debuted in September at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Starring in Raimi’s passion project is Rachel McAdams, who has enjoyed a successful career in Hollywood, gaining traction over two decades ago with notable roles ranging from Mean Girls (2004), The Notebook (2004) to Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret (2023). She’s no stranger to working with Raimi, as they teamed up for Doctor Strange 2.
The Thrills and Chills
Send Help promises to be a nail-biting addition to the horror genre, blending psychological tension with survival elements for a fresh perspective that will resonate with audiences. Although the film is rumored to have a wide theatrical release, the date remains uncertain. With Raimi’s return to horror and McAdams taking on a new role, this film will no doubt continue to generate buzz as more details are unveiled in the coming weeks.
