Teaser Trailer Released for Apple TV+’s ‘Disclaimer’

An Academy Award Return to Form

Renowned director Alfonso Cuarón returns to the screen with a highly anticipated 7-part limited series for Apple TV+, Disclaimer. This ambitious project boasts a stellar cast. Disclaimer is headlined by Academy Award winners Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline with Cuarón structuring a compelling and masterfully crafted viewing experience.

The Plot of ‘Disclaimer’

Disclaimer is a psychological thriller written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón that will star Cate Blanchett and Kevin Klein and will be showcased in seven chapters. According to Deadline, Disclaimer is based on the best-selling novel by the same name by Renée Knightrnalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett), who built her reputation by and follows jou revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others. When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets. As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys both her own life and her relationships with her husband Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen) and their son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee).” 

Indira Varma as the narrator along with Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George, and Hoyeon round out the ensemble cast. The series will start airing on October 11, with two episodes to start, followed by new episodes on Friday until November 15. Furthermore, the series will screen several episodes at the Venice Film Festival in September.

Cuarenaissance 

Alfonso Cuarón is celebrated as one of the most innovative and visionary film directors of his generation. With a career spanning over three decades, Cuarón has earned acclaim for his masterful storytelling, technical prowess, and ability to blend intimate human experiences with expansive cinematic spectacles. Moreover, his breakout film, Y Tu Mamá También (2001), showcased his knack for capturing raw, emotional narratives, earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. 

Additionally, he continued to push boundaries with the visually stunning, Children of Men (2006), which received critical acclaim for its innovative cinematography and gripping dystopian vision. Cuarón’s 2013 space epic, Gravity marked a significant milestone in his career, winning two Academy Awards, including Best Director. His most personal project, Roma (2018), garnered widespread praise for its poignant portrayal of life in 1970s Mexico City, winning the Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Cinematography. Additionally, Cuarón’s success is characterized by his unique ability to merge technical brilliance with deep, humanistic storytelling, solidifying his place as a luminary in contemporary cinema.
