‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ Teaser Previews Another Nightmare
Following the success of Five Nights at Freddy’s, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions have unveiled the first teaser for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, offering fans a haunting preview of the highly anticipated sequel.
Ready For Five More Nights?
At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, a panel took an unexpected turn when a life-sized toy Freddy figure appeared on stage, only to remove its head and reveal producer Jason Blum underneath. According to Deadline, Blum playfully ranted about his love for saving money and wearing costumes. “I love to save money,” he said, referencing his reputation for low-budget genre hits. “And on the first movie, I was in the suit the entire time.” He then announced that the Five Nights at Freddy’s sequel would be released exclusively in theaters, skipping a simultaneous debut on Peacock, making the audience thrilled.
Universal Pictures has released a teaser for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, the sequel to the original film directed by Emma Tammi, who returns to direct the follow-up. The teaser’s thumbnail features a revamped Freddy lurking behind red stage curtains. According to Deadline, the teaser showcases chaotic scenes of new animatronics roaming through public spaces like a pizzeria, a school, and even a fair.
Meanwhile, an eerie voiceover from Matthew Lillard, reprising his role as William Afton/Springtrap, plays in the background. Matthew Lillard isn’t the only cast member returning for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Several familiar faces are reprising their roles. Josh Hutcherson returns as security guard Mike Schmidt, Piper Rubio as his younger sister Abby, and Elizabeth Lail returns as Vanessa, a cop and the daughter of William Afton.
Box Office Success
When Five Nights at Freddy’s premiered, it was released both in theaters and on the streaming platform Peacock. According to Deadline, the film performed strongly across both formats, thanks to its status as one of the most fan-frenzied franchises. On opening weekend, it earned $80 million, bringing in $137.2 million by the end of its domestic run and surpassing $291 million worldwide. During its first week on Peacock, the film became the platform’s most-watched title, outperforming previous record-holders like Halloween Ends, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Bel-Air, and The Best Man: The Final Chapters.
