Benoit Blanc’s Big Return
Daniel Craig reprises his role as Benoit Blanc in the new trailer for Netflix’s third entry into the Knives Out cinematic universe. The Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery trailer follows the film’s world premiere at The Toronto Film Festival over the weekend.
A Who’s Who Whodunit
Following the first two films, Craig is joined by an ensemble cast of suspects, including Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson, with Johnson, Ram Bergman, Leopold Hughes, and Tom Karnowski serving as producers. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery follows the sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, in being released by Netflix.
A Classic Genre Reinvented
The new chapter of the mystery comedy film series follows Blanc investigating the murder of a priest. The official synopsis from Netflix states, “Johnson’s latest film brings Blanc to a small hamlet in leafy upstate New York, where eager young priest Jud Duplenticy (Josh O’Connor) has been sent to assist the local priest, Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin).
A charismatic firebrand, Wicks tends to a flock that includes Martha Delacroix (Glenn Close), Samson Holt (Thomas Haden Church), Vera Draven (Kerry Washington), Cy Draven (Daryl McCormack), Nat Sharp (Jeremy Renner), Lee Ross (Andrew Scott), and Simone Vivane (Cailee Spaeny). After a seemingly impossible murder rocks the town, local police chief Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis) joins forces with Blanc to unravel a mystery that pushes the boundaries of both faith and reason. But as Blanc puts it, ‘This was dressed as a miracle, it’s just a murder. And I solve murders.’” The “darkest chapter” in the Knives Out series is a return to classic murder mystery roots for director Johnson.
Following the premiere, the film has already received positive reviews. Catch Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery in select theaters on November 26 before it hits streaming exclusively on Netflix on December 12. Stay tuned to Dead Talk Media for more.
